 Who we are:
What we do:

The Pacific Aquaculture Caucus was formed to provide a credible, authoritative voice for aquaculture in the Pacific region of the U.S., with the coordination and leadership necessary for the orderly, appropriate development of aquaculture in ways that are economically sound and scientifically supported.

The Caucus has a two-tiered membership structure designed to promote broad involvement from the aquaculture industry across the region. Membership in the Caucus is open to individuals nominated by aquaculture businesses, associations and organizations (Primary Members), as well as to others who have a genuine interest in our stated mission and goals (Secondary Members).

Individual businesses or organizations are limited to a single Primary Member each, although others from the same organizations are welcome to join as Secondary Members. Only Primary Members may serve on the Board of Directors.

Our 12-member Board of Directors includes seven people elected by the general membership and five who are seated by invitation to maintain broad regional and industry representation. The board relies on standing and ad hoc committees to accomplish most of the organization's work.

We have adopted the following eight-point plan to aid us in acheiving our goals. This plan calls for the Caucus to:

Assist national, state, local and tribal governments in establishing aquaculture regulations that are based on the best available science.
Support the use of aquaculture production systems that address both the economic and enironmental needs of the region.
Encourage the development and use of Best Management Practices and protocols that provide for safe, clean aquaculture operations.
Encourage coordination and collaboration among stakeholders.
Promote, coordinate, and assist programs of scientific research and technological development to make the best use of available resources.
Use its collective expertise to advise the industry on the promotion and development of aquaculture and its products.
Take on specific tasks, as needed, to study and resolve issues surrounding aquaculture.
Provide a focal point for gathering and disseminating information about aquaculture.
